Lions confirm Dayimani loan to WP

The Lions have officially announced that loose forward Hacjivah Dayimani will be joining Western Province on a loan deal until the end of the Currie Cup.

As reported by this website, Western Province Rugby had an interest in bringing Dayimani to the Cape, especially as they have lost a few players in their back-row department this year.

Siya Kolisi headed to the Sharks. Juarno Augustus is soon off to England, to where Jaco Coetzee departed earlier this year. Willie Engelbrecht is back at the Pumas after his loan spell during the Rainbow Cup SA. Meanwhile, Pieter-Steph du Toit is currently with the Springboks and could seal a move to Japan.

The Lions confirmed on social media on Thursday afternoon that Dayimani will be joining Western Province, but on a loan deal for the duration of the Currie Cup.

SARugbymag.co.za understands that Western Province identified dynamic Dayimani as a raw and rare talent who could add mobility and pure athleticism to their back-row stocks.

The 23-year-old’s progress has been hampered by injury and some differing opinions over whether he would be best deployed in the back row or, in fact, somewhere in the backline.

Recovering from a knee injury he suffered last November, Dayimani has yet to play a game this year for the Lions and could provide his parent club with a stark reminder of his ability during this loan spell.
