Toulon cruise into quarters

Springbok wing Bryan Habana scored a try as Toulon thrashed Ulster 60-22 in their European Champions Cup match at the Stade Mayol.

The French and European champions scored eight tries in total, with the others coming from flyhalf Nicolás Sánchez, centre Mathieu Bastareaud, prop Martin Castrogiovanni, replacement loose forward Mamuka Gorgodz, and flanker Steffon Armitage (three). Ulster, with Ruan Pienaar at scrumhalf, responded with three tries of their own.

The bonus-point win takes Toulon to 18 log points in Pool 3, five ahead of the Leicester Tigers, who outscored the Llanelli Scarlets by six tries to three to win 40-23 at Welford Road on Friday night.

Meanwhile, Saracens ended Munster's hopes of reaching the play-offs with a convincing 33-10 win at Allianz Park. The win puts Sarries on top of Pool 1 with a match at Clermont to come next weekend.

Leinster took a step closer to the quarter-finals with a seven-try 50-8 win over Castres at the RDS, Clermont moved back to the top of Pool 1 thanks to a hard-fought 22-13 victory over Sale in Salford, and Wasps fed off scraps of possession to beat Harlequins 23-3 at the Twickenham Stoop.
