Curwin Bosch says he wants to make the most out of his time as Sharks flyhalf after being given an extended run in the position.
After starting his career with the Sharks in 2016 in the No 10 jersey, Bosch endured a frustrating period under former coach Robert du Preez.
The 22-year-old found himself either relegated to the bench or playing at fullback after Du Preez brought his oldest son, Robert Jnr, to Durban from the Stormers.
However, following the Du Preez’s departure from the Sharks and the appointment of Sean Everitt as head coach, Bosch has been allowed to make the flyhalf position his own and he has certainly repaid Everitt’s faith in him.
He is currently the Sharks’ top point-scorer with 59 in all four of the Sharks wins this year, having missed the loss to the Hurricanes after a family bereavement.
This has entered Bosch into the conversation for a return to the Springbok squad, having made his debut with a late cameo off the bench against Argentina in 2017.
‘The most important thing for me is to perform for the Sharks … that’s my priority,’ Bosch said ahead of the Sharks’ crunch match against the Jaguares.
‘Obviously it’s a goal and a dream of mine to play for the Springboks again, but I need the team to do well in order for me to get there.
‘It’s good to have that consistency. I always knew going into the season that I was going to get game time at No 10, so I could really put my mind and energy into becoming better week in and week out,’ he added.
‘It helps having the players around me like [scrumhalf] Louis Schreuder, who has over 100 caps in Super Rugby, and Andre Esterhuizen and Lukhanyo Am who have played for the Springboks.
‘There are a lot of good leaders within the squad, so a lot of credit must go to the guys around me who make my game a lot easier.’
