Wales have confirmed that they will face the world champion Springboks on 28 November in their final fixture before the 2023 World Cup draw is made.

The clash between these two sides will be a rematch of last year’s World Cup semi-final, in which the Boks edged Wales 19-16.

Prior to that encounter, the Springboks had lost five out of their last six games against Wales, while they have not beaten the hosts in Cardiff since 2013.

Fiji, New Zealand and Argentina are also on the end-of-year agenda announced by the Welsh Rugby Union, with world ranking places at the end of November dictating seedings ahead of the next World Cup draw.

Wales are currently fifth in the World Rugby rankings, with the Boks in first place, with the band-one seedings for the next World Cup in France set to comprise the top four.

‘To maintain aspirations of winning the World Cup in 2023 we need to continually face the top teams, match them and regularly beat them,’ WRU chief executive Martyn Phillips said.

Wales’ end-of-year Tests: 7 November – Fiji, 14 November – New Zealand, 22 November – Argentina, 28 November – South Africa.
