Fred Zeilinga will start at flyhalf for the Cheetahs against the Reds in Brisbane on Saturday.
Zeilinga replaces Niel Marais, who moves to the bench.
In other changes, Carl Wegner comes in for Francois Uys in the second row, with Lood de Jager shifting to No 5 lock, and Paul Schoeman moves from eighthman to openside flanker in place of the injured Hilton Lobberts, with Henco Venter starting at No 8.
Johan Coetzee and Michael van der Spuy have both come onto the bench.
