Western Province put in one of the performances of the tournament to beat Free State 44-12 on day two of the U16 Grant Khomo week on Wednesday.
Free State went through the U16 week unbeaten last year and won the unofficial final against the Blue Bulls.
However, their unbeaten run was ended as WP scored six tries to claim their second big win of the 2019 tournament after they beat Boland 78-12 on day one.
WP were lead by a man-of-the-match performance from fullback Hakeem Kunene, while outside centre Keagen Smit scored a brace to go with his hat-trick against Boland.
Flank Tristan van Dyk, inside centre Hanno Wessels and right-wing Suleiman Hartzenberg added tries against Free State, while flyhalf Compion von Ludwig slotted two penalties and four conversions for a personal haul of 14 points.
Hartzenberg and Van Dyk both scored braces against Boland to go with tries from Wessels, Von Ludwig, lock Coetzee le Roux and backs Matthew van Schalkwyk and Joshua Africa.
Meanwhile, the Golden Lions outplayed the EP Elephants to remain two of only three unbeaten sides. The SWD Eagles fought to their second successive draw with a 20-20 stalemate against the Sharks, after also drawing against Free State on day one.
WP will face the Golden Lions at 12:30 in the unofficial final of the tournament.
