Wounded All Blacks want redemption

Ryan Crotty says the All Blacks aim to make amends for the loss against the Springboks when they take on Argentina in Buenos Aires on Saturday.

The world champions suffered a shock 36-34 defeat to the Boks in Wellington, the first time the South Africans had won in New Zealand since 2009.

Crotty says the result made their week off an uncomfortable one as they wanted to put things right as soon as possible.

‘This group always expects to win and win well,’ Crotty told Radio Sport. ‘When we don’t, that’s hard to take. There are some very competitive men in the group, that’s probably an understatement.

‘Usually the next week you get a chance to put it right. The rock was under the beach towel, that’s for sure.’

Crotty added that they know where they went wrong in Wellington and are looking forward to the prospect of playing in front of a boisterous Buenos Aires crowd.

‘It’s really about our connections out there. Feeding in everything we see that’s critical for them to make the right calls and take a bit of the load off them.

‘It’ll be loud, it’ll be hard to hear. There’ll be a vocal crowd. You embrace that. It’s awesome, genuinely exciting. The boys love it,’ Crotty added. ‘The best way to silence a crowd is to play well and get points on the board.’
