Lions coach Swys de Bruin has confirmed that captain Warren Whiteley will be out for the remainder of the Vodacom Super Rugby season due to an injury.
Whiteley has been nursing an ongoing knee injury and the Lions coach admitted on Thursday that the No 8 will not be fit in time to be considered for Super Rugby selection again this year.
According to De Bruin, Whiteley saw a specialist on Wednesday but no timeframe has been set on his recovery period.
‘He saw the doctor yesterday, so I have to get feedback from the doctor on just how long he is expected to be out for, but we won’t have him back for Super Rugby,’ De Bruin said.
