Jake White says the result in Wellington last Saturday shows why the Springboks should always play to their strengths.
The Boks beat the All Blacks despite having just 25% of the possession and 21% of the territory. They were forced to make 235 tackles compared to just 61 from the hosts.
In his latest column for AllOutRugby, White said those stats didn’t matter.
‘That’s because 36-34 is the only number that counts,’ the 2007 World Cup-winning coach added. ‘That’s why you have to find a way to win every weekend, and to do that you have to find a style that suits you.
‘Every South African enjoyed that Test match, including the players, because that style suits us. The actual grit and determination, sticking together, and fighting on our tryline epitomises Springbok rugby.
‘Bok fans must come to accept the fact that this is how you win Test matches.’
