WP Rugby’s debt to Remgro has grown from R40-million to almost R53-million after the union reportedly failed to make interest payments.
According to Rapport, that amount could increase to R80-million in the next three years if WP Rugby doesn’t start paying back the money loaned to it in December 2016.
Adding to the issue is lower than expected supporter numbers for the Stormers’ Vodacom Super Rugby home matches, and the ongoing battle between the professional and amateur arms of the union.
