Brad Weber will captain the Chiefs against the Lions in Hamilton on Friday in the absence of the injured Brodie Retallick.
On the back of losing the influential Damian McKenzie to a season-ending injury, the Chiefs have also lost Retallick and hooker Nathan Harris to injuries after their win against the Blues last weekend.
Jack Debreczeni will replace McKenzie at fullback, while Alex Nankivell earns his first start of the year at outside centre. Ataata Moeakiola takes the place of Solomon Alaimalo on the left wing.
In the pack, Mitchell Brown replaces Retallick, and Liam Polwart comes in for Harris.
