Stormers coach Robbie Fleck was pleased with his side's 20-10 win against the Cheetahs but not the performance.
The Cape side's first Super Rugby victory in Bloemfontein since 2012 took them to the top of the Africa 1 conference, and second place on the combined South African log behind the Sharks.
Fleck praised his side’s ability to hold on for the win after being under pressure for much of the match, but he was not happy with the overall performance.
‘It is always tough to come up here and play the Cheetahs, it is a nice win for us and we will take that,’ said Fleck. '[However] It was a frustrating performance, we weren’t accurate and we were too loose in that first half, but the half-time chat was good and we were better in the second half.
‘I felt that our pack didn’t play as well as it should have, we were slow to react, our first-half set piece wasn’t good enough and credit to the Cheetahs who put us under pressure there. Coming away with a win here is crucial and we haven’t done it in three seasons, so it is a step up in the right direction.’
The Stormers next face the Sharks at Newlands on Saturday.
