Shimlas successfully appealed against a controversial seven-point try from UJ which had originally made the hosts lose 27-25 in Bloemfontein.
The point-of-origin try rule states that when an attacking team starts their move from inside their own half and score a try, they are awarded a POR try that gives them an extra two points. If the POR try is converted, the team will get nine points altogether.

In Monday night’s clash between the two teams, who both went into the match winless and looking to avoid a relegation battle, Shimlas thought they had walked away with a 26-25 win.
However, UJ team management insisted after the game that the referees review video footage as they believed wing Siphiwe Mazibuko had scored a point-of-origin try.
As the above video shows, UJ received possession through a quick lineout inside Shimlas’ half, before passing it back inside their half. The try, therefore, should only have counted for five points.
SARugbymag.co.za understands that Shimlas have appealed the decision and had the result overturned in their favour.
That has Hendro Scholtz’s team walk away with the original 26-25 victory and climb into seventh place on the log, with UJ staying bottom of the table with three points.
