It has since been confirmed that a driver belonging to Stellenbosch Golf Club member Grant Gainsford, and a putter worth R3,500 belonging to Louis Swanepoel were the items stolen around noon, around 50 minutes before their tee time.
Stellenbosch Golf Club general manager Chris van der Merwe intends to lay a charge of theft at the local police station, according to News24.
Since then, the SAPS have confirmed that is the case.
‘A theft case is under investigation by the Stellenbosch police. No one has been arrested so far. Our investigation is ongoing,’ said Noloyiso Rwexana.
