With less than three minutes to play, Damian McKenzie’s drop goal looked to have sealed victory for the Chiefs in the first match of Vodacom Super Rugby Aotearoa, but Bryn Gatland – a late inclusion in the Highlanders match-day squad – stepped up to deny father Warren’s team a win with a composed drop goal of his own.
