Wallabies utility back Jordan Petaia will miss the Bledisloe Cup Tests against the All Blacks and is in doubt for the start of the Rugby Championship due to a hip flexor injury.
Petaia suffered the injury during the Reds’ loss in the Super Rugby AU final against the Brumbies and the Sydney Morning Herald reports he could be sidelined for six weeks after scans confirmed the injury.
Petaia was brought down in a tackle after making a 40-metre dash into the 22 to set up teammate Harry Wilson for a try.
The 20-year-old is expected to be assessed by Wallabies medical staff on Monday at the Hunter Valley.
The latest injury blow is one in many during Petaia’s young career so far.
Petaia sat out most of 2019 with a foot injury and his Super Rugby campaign would have been ended by a shoulder injury in February if the season had not been put on hold.
