Australia's 24-20 win against South Africa has seen them climb above Wales to fifth in the World Rugby rankings.

The Wallabies dropped to sixth – their lowest ever ranking – earlier this year, but their dramatic Rugby Championship victory last Saturday sees them regaining fifth place courtesy of a 1.23 rating points increase. 

The Springboks dropped 1.23 rating points from 88.23 to 87.00, which moves the All Blacks 6.70 points clear at the summit of the rankings, despite not picking up any points following their victory over Argentina.

Fiji’s 30-22 win over Tonga in Suva at the weekend earned them 0.65 of a rating point and was enough to see them usurp Scotland in 10th place, with Vern Cotter's team sliding to 11th.

Japan's 20-6 defeat of Canada sees the Asian side move up to 12th position ahead of Tonga, who slip to 13th.
