Josh Adams will make Test his debut after being named in Wales’ starting lineup for their first Six Nations opener against Scotland at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.
The 22-year-old, who has scored 13 tries for the Worcester Warriors this season, is the only non-Scarlets player in Wales’ run-on backline. Leigh Halfpenny and Steff Evans complete the back three.
Coach Warren Gatland has opted for Hadleigh Parkes and Scott Williams as the centre pairing.
Flyhalf Rhys Patchell, who played only one Test in 2017 (off the bench against the Springboks), has been fast-tracked into a starting spot following injuries to Dan Biggar and Rhys Priestland. Patchell will continue his halfback partnership with his Scarlets teammate Gareth Davies.
Rob Evans, Ken Owens and Samson Lee will pack down together in the front row, with Cory Hill named alongside captain Alun Wyn Jones in the second row.
No 8 Ross Moriarty completes the loose trio with flanks Aaron Shingler and Josh Navidi.
‘We have been watching Josh Adams closely, he is top try-scorer in the English Premiership and has been going well and we are excited for him,’ said Gatland.
‘Both Rhys and Gareth have been training really well over the past couple of weeks. It was a tough call between them, but Rhys has started most of his games for the Scarlets at 10, we are really happy with his form and the combination with Gareth Davies at nine.’
