WP Rugby president Thelo Wakefield has moved to end his fallout with former Springbok captain Corné Krige.
Earlier in the year, Krige hit out at WP Rugby administrators for what he called ‘amateur management style’. Wakefield took offence and responded by writing a wide-ranging open letter directed at Krige in an attempt to set the record straight.
With his tenure as president coming to an end on Monday, Wakefield is set to take over from Pat Kuhn as chairperson of the union’s president’s fund. According to Netwerk24, he now wants to appoint Krige as one of the trustees of the fund.
‘It’s a development fund that provides bursaries to underprivileged kids. I believe Corné can play a big role and feel we’ll be able to work well together,’ Wakefield said.
‘What we said to each other was in the heat of the moment, but I believe it was for the sake of progress for WP. I’ll talk to Corné next week.’
