The new Springbok coach will only be named on 12 April following the finalisation of his contract.
The preferred candidate, widely believed to be Allister Coetzee, first needs to receive the approval of the general council at SA Rugby's annual general meeting on Friday.
If the appointment is ratified, the successful candidate and his management team will be named at a media conference on 12 April.
The Springboks will play their first Test of the year against Ireland on 11 June, with the national side having been without a coach since Heyneke Meyer stepped down in early December.
