The Vodacom Bulls have confirmed the departure of hooker Jaco Visagie, who have agreed terms to join the Lions.
The 28-year-old front rower made his first-class debut for the Bulls in the 2013 Vodacom Cup and went on to represent the union at all levels, including U19, U21, Currie Cup and Vodacom Super Rugby. He made his Super Rugby appearance against the Blues earlier this year.
Visagie, who spent the best part of the last 10 years at the union, thanked the Bulls for backing him and for the opportunities he has received at Loftus.
‘It’s been an amazing journey to say the least, filled with highs and lows, and I’m sincerely grateful for the opportunities that I have been granted at Loftus,’ he said.
‘I’d like to thank my teammates, the management, the staff and everybody else that’s contributed to my career thus far. I’m excited about the next step, and look forward to the journey ahead.’
Bulls director of rugby Jake White has wished Visagie well on his new journey at the Lions.
‘Jaco has been a loyal servant and warrior for the Bulls family for ten years, and has given his best in that time. I wish him well as he embarks on this new chapter in his rugby career at the Lions,’ White said.
