The Vodacom Bulls have confirmed that World Cup-winning No 8 Duane Vermeulen will be rejoining the side in June.
It’s a bit of good news for the embattled Bulls, who have started the season with four successive defeats and sit at the bottom of the Vodacom Super Rugby standings.
Vermeulen featured prominently for the Pretoria-based side last year before serving as a key member of the Boks’ World Cup-winning team. Since then, he has been making a big impact for the Kubota Spears in Japan.
In the upcoming issue of SA Rugby magazine, Vermeulen speaks about the difficulties of being away from home and family, but also explained his desire to put himself in a position to feature against the British & Irish Lions in 2021.
‘I realise that I will have to earn that chance over the next year or so,’ he commented. ‘I treasure every opportunity to contribute to the team and for what the Bok jersey stands.’
