Varsity Cup still on hold

Varsity Cup games for next Monday have been postponed following the continued unrest at various campuses.

The tournament is already running behind schedule because all fourth round games had to be postponed until 4 April to avoid violent protests, and on Tuesday organisers announced that all fifth round matches will be pushed back too.

'The well-being and safety of all students and those attending and participating in our events remain of the utmost importance,' said Duitser Bosman, Varsity Cup CEO.

The four match-ups that have to be rescheduled are Pukke vs CUT, Maties vs Shimlas, UJ vs UCT and Tuks vs NMMU.

It is unclear when the fifth round games will be played, but the board will meet weekly to review and monitor the developments before any matches resume.
