All four of next Monday’s Varsity Cup matches will be played at Soccer City in Soweto.
It was earlier reported that the matches would be played at the Cape Town Stadium, but the venue will not be available due to preparations for a music concert on 18 March.
The competition resumes with the originally scheduled matches for 14 March, with dates and venues for postponed matches still to be determined. Those, as well as venues for matches scheduled for 21, 24 and 28 March, will be confirmed in the next week.
‘A decision was taken to continue with this year’s tournament by allowing all Varsity Cup matches, including Varsity Shield, Steinhoff Koshuis Rugby and Young Guns to recommence,’ Varsity Cup CEO Duitser Bosman said in a press release.
‘The support of the universities and fans over the past few weeks has been tremendous and is greatly appreciated. We invite everyone to continue following the action through the live updates on our digital platforms, as well as through the SuperSport broadcasts of various matches,’ Bosman added.
Monday’s matches at Soccer City will be open to the public. Tickets for the games will be available at the gates at R20 each.
