The Varsity Cup has officially announced that all fixtures scheduled for Monday, 16 March will be postponed to help contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
This follows the announcement from South African president Cyril Ramaphosa that gatherings of over 100 people are prohibited.
It was originally rumored that the Varsity Cup would go ahead behind closed doors, but with both Wits and UCT among the universities taking steps to contain the virus, it has become apparent that continuing with Monday’s games is no longer possible.
