London Irish have completed the signing of Benhard Janse van Rensburg from the Cheetahs ahead of the 2021-22 season.
Van Rensburg – who is equally adept at flyhalf, centre and fullback – moves from Japanese side NEC Green Rockets, which he joined from the Cheetahs earlier this year.
The 24 year-old previously made 34 appearances during his time in the PRO14 with the Cheetahs. His career to date has also included stints in South Africa with the Free State Cheetahs, Southern Kings, Natal Sharks, Sharks and Leopards.
“This is a great opportunity for me to play for a fantastic club in one of the best leagues in the world,” he commented.
“Moving to England and playing in London is something that really excites me – I can’t wait!”
Exiles director of rugby Declan Kidney added: “We’re very happy to welcome Benhard to London Irish.
“He’s an exciting young player, whose versatility will really strengthen us in the backline.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming him to Hazelwood for pre-season next month.”
