Philip van der Walt is the latest South African rugby player to join the exodus to France after signing with Biarritz.
The hard-working eighthman has been released from his contract and will play no part in the Cheetahs' Currie Cup campaign later this year. He will join up with Biarritz at the conclusion of the Super Rugby season.
At just 24-years old, Van der Walt still has his best years ahead of him and his move continues a concerning trend of young talent heading overseas to further their careers. It follows the news that Johan Goosen will turn out for Racing Metro later this year.
Biarritz will play in the Pro D2 competition next season after they were recently relegated from the French Top 14.
