Head coach Robbie Fleck says his Stormers charges have embraced the new approach he has implemented during the off-season.

The Stormers' pre-season training, dating back to November 2016, culminated in a team-building camp in Hermanus last weekend, with Fleck confirming key changes were made ahead the Super Rugby season and emphasising his satisfaction with the squad.

'We set ourselves some new challenges, so we needed to make a few changes in our set-up and the way we approach things,' said Fleck.

'From the players' perspective we had to make some major changes, not just in the way we see things, but the way we see ourselves and our professional approach.'

Fleck added that the addition of former Blues coach Paul Feeney to Stormers' coaching staff resulted in a greater emphasis on skills development for the Cape franchise.

'Skills was a major focus for us, hence Paul Feeney joining us. He has had many a session, where he up-skilled the players, not only in catching and passing, but more so vision and decision-making, and communication,' explained Fleck.

'Everything is in line to becoming a better team. We want to help the players become more natural in their skills and conditioning, that it is not hard work but that everything becomes second nature,' he added.
