Referee Marius van der Westhuizen has been dropped from World Rugby’s match official panel.
A local official told the Sunday Times that ‘there was a problem with his fitness’.
It is the second time this year that Van der Westhuizen has been stood down.
In March, he was relieved from his role as assistant referee for Ireland’s Grand Slam match against England at Twickenham after it was revealed that he had attended an England training session in the lead-up to the Six Nations Test.
There are three South African referees on the panel for the November Test window: Jaco Peyper, Rasta Rasivhenge and Marius Jonker (TMO).
