A last-gasp penalty try gave Ulster a 17-17 draw against Benetton Treviso, while there were Pro14 wins for the Cheetahs, Kings, Munster, Glasgow Warriors, Leinster and Cardiff Blues.
While Ulster claimed a hard-fought win when they last met Treviso in November, they were given an equally tough match against the Italians, who looked set for a late win.
With the Italians seven points ahead and standing defensively resolute, Ulster were awarded a penalty try in stoppage time as Treviso dragged down a maul.
The Irish side got the match off to a perfect start when wing Louis Ludik scored within the first minute of the game after hooker Rob Herring won a turnover.
However, Treviso responded to that early shock well and levelled the scores just after the 10-minute mark as lock Federico Ruzza smashed his way over the tryline, with flyhalf Ian McKinley adding a conversion to take the Italians into the lead.
As Treviso grew into the game, so Ulster began to leak penalties and McKinley punished them to see his side take a 10-5 advantage at the break.
The hosts responded by upping their intensity after the interval and the match was again levelled as Herring went over from behind a driving maul, but crucially flyhalf Billy Burns was unable to convert.
Treviso came into the match on the back of four successive victories and looked set to add a fifth when big wing Iliesa Ratuva broke through a tackle and reached over the tryline in the corner to give them a seven-point lead going into the final quarter of the match.
In other results, there were big wins for both South African teams as the Cheetahs demolished Zebre 61-28 before the Kings scored two successive tries to stun Edinburgh 25-21 in Port Elizabeth.
Meanwhile, lock Jean Kleyn scored a crucial second-half try to see Munster beat the Dragons 8-7 and stay on top of Conference A ahead of the Glasgow Warriors, who had Brandon Thomson to thank as the flyhalf calmly slotted three penalties to guide them to a 9-3 win against the Ospreys.
Defending champions Leinster continued their dominance of Conference B as they saw off the Scarlets in a 22-17 victory. The Cardiff Blues stayed with the chasing pack as they survived a late comeback to beat Connacht 8-7.
