How Twitter reacted to referee Angus Gardner’s decision not to penalise England’s Owen Farrell for a dangerous tackle.
VIDEO: @owen_faz tackles @Andre_301207 in the 83rd minute of Saturday’s Test at Twickenham. Should it have been a penalty and/or yellow card? #ENGvRSA pic.twitter.com/T0RRTA7Q0t

Penalty and yellow for me. I see how he bounces, but when you watch that, you see that Farrell gets the right shoulder onto the center mass of the player, not out, in a position to wrap. He’s never going wrap.

For own peace of mind, I checked with 3 current International refs on the Farrell “tackle and the decision is unanimous, it should have been the easiest yellow card to Farrell!

Disgraceful. Again where are the officials who are looking after the game!

I’m sorry,but that’s a disgraceful call by the Officials,Congrats England!

A lot of supporters frustrated with that final hit from Farrell, thought it was a good, fair hit. Don’t think we should be relying on a ref last min decision to win. We had Opportunities to bury the game early and we never took them.

Regardless of the thoughts on that last tackle… if there’s one action that illustrates Owen Farrell and his value to the team, it’s that. Hard, abrasive on the edge and a match winner ?

From a man who has done extensive work on this for the good of the game, but particularly player welfare. I will say it again, visualize Philip Botha doing this to Damian McKenzie, what it looks like in the moment , and what it looks like for the game of rugby. https://t.co/RS0SULHnB9

Great test match. Should it have been a penalty against Farrell? I don’t think so . His arms were up. Mind you it was a tough call . Imagine having to make it in a World Cup Final? Let’s celebrate the spirit and growing organization of the @Springboks
