It has been confirmed that Western Province Rugby Football Union executive committee member and shareholder director Kevin Kiewitz has resigned.
According to Sport24, the news was confirmed by the union’s president, Zelt Marais, to the region’s clubs on Tuesday.
Marais revealed that Kiewitz had rendered his resignation with immediate effect and that it was accepted by the WPRFU board.
‘I thanked Mr Kiewitz for his contributions during his time in office and wished him well for his future endeavours,’ Marais said in a statement.
It is unclear what the reason was for Kiewitz’s departure, although some reports suggest it could be as a result of a change in plan that could see WP Rugby opt out of a development deal with Investec despite having already received a reported ‘advance’.
