Former Sharks coach Jake White has been strongly linked to a technical advisor role with Tonga for their end-of-year tour.
According to ONE News in New Zealand, White will assist head coach Mana Otai when Tonga plays Georgia, the United States and Scotland next month.
'Through some mutual acquaintances we got in touch with Jake and he was extremely keen to come on board,' said Tonga high performance manager Peter Harding.
'He's had a great coaching career and has won a World Cup so his presence alone will be massive for the squad.'
White has not yet confirmed whether he will continue the role through to next year's World Cup in England, but Harding said discussions have been positive.
White recently parted ways with the Sharks after only a season in Durban, and has made no attempts to hide his desire to return to international coaching.
