Nick Cummins will return to the Western Force for the 2015 Vodacom Super Rugby competition on a season-long loan deal.
The winger, affectionately known as the 'Honey Badger', has secured a short-term release from his contract with Japanese club Coca-Cola West Red Sparks. The loan deal means he will be eligible for the Super Rugby season as well as the Wallabies' World Cup campaign before returning to Japan for the 2015/16 Top League season.
Earlier this year, Cummins was granted an early release from his contract with the Perth-based franchise on compassionate grounds, signing a lucrative deal in Japan so he could support several sick family members.
Cummins says he’s looking forward to returning to the Force and Australian shores in 2015, having recently featured against Michael Cheika's team for the Barbarians at Twickenham.
'Walking off the field after the match at Twickenham was a surreal experience, knowing I had just played against my country. It definitely lit a fire within and had me thinking about what could have been,' said Cummins.
'But I heard a bloke say at the end of the Super Rugby season that he hadn’t heard no fat lady sing!
'I’m stoked to be back on the burst and returning to Australian rugby in 2015. Thanks to the Western Force and more importantly the Coca-Cola Red Sparks in Japan for making my return back to Australia possible.
'It's gonna be a huge year. Can’t wait to get amongst it!'
