Test centres start for Force, Rebels lose captain

The selection of Kyle Godwin and Richard Kahui in midfield are two of four changes to the Western Force’s starting XV for their match against the Rebels in Sydney on Friday.

Godwin and Kahui will make up a new centre pairing, replacing Henry Taefu and Marcel Brache, who shifts to the wing where he takes over from the benched Brad Lacey.

Meanwhile, Ian Prior is preferred at scrumhalf ahead of Nick Frisby, who is also demoted to the substitues.

Up front, loosehead prop Chris Heiberg comes in for Brad Lacey.

Elsewhere, Rebels coach Dave Wessels has made four changes to his side for the game.

The injury-enforced absence of captain Dane Haylett-Petty has brought on a backline reshuffle, with Reece Hodge moving from No 13 to fullback, Andrew Kellaway shifting from wing to outside centre and Tom Pincus slotting in on the right wing.

No 8 Isi Naisarani comes into the loose trio in place of Josh Kemeny, Esei Ha’angana is preferred ahead of Matt Philip at No 4 lock and prop Jermaine Ainsley returns to the tighthead side at the expense of Pone Fa’amausili.

Western Force – 15 Jack McGregor, 14 Byron Ralston, 13 Kyle Godwin, 12 Richard Kahui, 12 11 Marcel Brache, 10 Jono Lance, 9 Ian Prior, 8 Brynard Stander, 7 Tevin Ferris, 6 Henry Stowers, 5 Fergus Lee Warner, 4 Jeremy Thrush (c), 3 Kieran Longbottom, 2 Feleti Kaitu’u, 1 Chris Heiberg.
Subs: 16 Andrew Ready, 17 Pek Cowan, 18 Tom Sheminant, 19 Johan Bardoul, 20 Ollie Callan, 21 Nick Frisby, 22 Henry Taefu, 23 Brad Lacey.
