Bulls wing Madosh Tambwe says the clash with his former side won’t add any extra impetus when the Sharks make the trip to Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.
Tambwe has become a mainstay in the Bulls backline since moving from Durban to Pretoria in February, having previously joined the Sharks from the Lions at the beginning of 2020.
Playing under Springbok and 2019 World Cup-winning wings Sbu Nkosi and Makazole Mapimpi at the Sharks, Tambwe was mostly used as a squad player, filling in when the latter two were injured, but performed that role excellently, pushing them for a place in the franchise’s starting lineup.
Ultimately, it was personal issues that prompted the 24-year-old to look for a move back north and after a discussion with director of rugby Jake White, he decided a move to the Bulls was in his best interests.
Having already faced his former side in the Preparation Series, Tambwe told Sport24 that there are no hard feelings between him and the Sharks.
‘To be honest, and I really don’t want to sound arrogant here, I’ve got nothing to prove to anyone,’ Tambwe said.
‘I know my skill set as a player. In my mind, I am approaching this game as I would any other.
‘There is nothing personal involved in this game. It is not Madosh versus the Sharks. It is the Bulls versus the Sharks.’
