Wing Enver Brandt scored four tries as Griquas beat the Leopards 46-31, while there were also wins for Western Province, the Welwitschias, Pumas, Border Bulldogs and Free State XV in the Provincial Rugby Challenge.
SA Rugby has reduced the number of matches in the 2018 Currie Cup with the aim of increasing the interest in South Africa’s premier domestic tournament.
The Free State XV edged Griquas 32-31, while there were also wins for the Pumas, Sharks XV, Border Bulldogs, Boland Cavaliers and Golden Lions XV in the Provincial Rugby Challenge.
The Mpumalanga and Griqualand West Rugby Unions have been identified as the preferred candidates to assume places in inter-continental competitions, should opportunities arise.
