Adriaan Strauss has copped a three-week suspension for his tip-tackle on Kobus van Wyk.

Following Saturday's Super Rugby match at Newlands, Strauss was cited for the incident, which occurred in the 23rd minute of the game. On Tuesday, a Sanzar judicial hearing found him guilty of contravening Law 10.4 (j) Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground.

While this offence typically results in a minimum four-week suspension, the judiciary ruled that due to the player's excellent record, good character and admission of guilt, the sentence is reduced to three weeks.

Strauss, who was scheduled to join up with the Boks, will now miss the matches against the World XV and Wales. He should make his return in the game against Scotland in Port Elizabeth, and will be available for the remainder of the Cheetahs' Super Rugby fixtures.

Bulls hooker Callie Visagie has been called up to the Springbok training squad in his absence.
