Wilco Louw suffered a hip flexor injury in the Stormers’ Super Rugby warm-up match against the Bulls on Saturday.
The sides played to a 26-26 draw at Boland Stadium in Wellington, but the Stormers are counting the costs of the result following the injury to their first-choice tighthead prop.
The Stormers have confirmed Louw underwent scans, but further assessments are needed to determine the severity of the injury. If the injury is serious, Louw faces at least four weeks on the sidelines.
Coach Robbie Fleck’s team kicks off its Super Rugby campaign against the Jaguares at Newlands on 17 February.
