Stormers and Springbok loose forward Nizaam Carr will join English club Wasps on a permanent basis ahead of the 2018-19 season.

Carr spent three months with Wasps earlier this season to provide injury cover, before returning to the Stormers for the current Super Rugby campaign.

During that spell, he put together a string of impressive performances in the Premiership and Champions Cup, scoring four tries in 11 matches.

The 27-year-old will link up with his old teammates at the end of the Super Rugby season.

‘After my brief stint at Wasps, I really felt at home which is why I am so excited and motivated to be returning full-time to this incredible club,’ Carr said of his return to Coventry.

‘The fans, management and players made me feel really welcome and I am so looking forward to this next chapter in my rugby career.’

Meanwhile, the Stormers have also confirmed that wing Raymond Rhule and scrumhalf Dewaldt Duvenhage have also been granted early release from their contracts to pursue opportunities abroad.

Rhule will join French side Grenoble, while Duvenhage heads to Italian club Benetton Treviso.
