The Stormers could be without Cobus Wiese and Salmaan Moerat after they picked up injuries during the loss to the Brumbies at Newlands on Saturday. DYLAN JACK reports.
Both locks were forced off the field with concussions. Wiese went off after just 22 minutes, following his collision with Brumbies hooker Folau Fainga’a, while Moerat was replaced by Johan du Toit in the second half of the match, which the Stormers lost 19-17.
REPORT: Brumbies edge wasteful Stormers
With the Vodacom Bulls next to come to Newlands, the Stormers will need a side as strong as possible, but are facing a shortage in the second row.
‘I haven’t had the feedback yet,’ Stormers coach Robbie Fleck said after the match. ‘Cobus went for an X-ray on his cheek, and Salmaan failed his sideline HIA test.
‘Those are the only two that raise a few concerns. But we do have both JD Shickerling and Eben Etzebeth returning. That position has been hit hard through injuries.’
