The Stormers’ preparations for the upcoming match against the British & Irish Lions are well under way, with the Cape side having entered a secure “bubble” from Thursday.
The Stormers are scheduled to take on the tourists this week, although it remains to be seen whether the match will go ahead as originally planned on Saturday, or be moved to Wednesday.
There has been some talk that the SA ‘A’ game – scheduled for this Wednesday – may switch dates with the Stormers’ match against the Lions on 17 July, but there has been no confirmation as yet.
The Stormers are prepared to play on either date, having entered the bubble early to accommodate any changes, while they returned negative tests after under going the mandatory Covid-19 protocols.
It’s good news for the Cape-based side after a recent disruption when a member of the coaching staff tested positive prior to the Currie Cup clash against Griquas.
Over the past week, the Boks and Bulls have endured two outbreaks in their respective camps, which forced the cancellation of the second warm-up Test against Georgia, as well as the tour game between the Pretoria-based side and the visiting Lions.
The Stormers are determined to fulfill their fixture against the Lions, while there are just two more “tour games” remaining before Warren Gatland’s team take on the Springboks in Cape Town on 24 July.
