Springbok utility back Frans Steyn has agreed to a deal with the Cheetahs and will join the side from 1 July.
This information has been verified by SARugbymag.co.za, and is in keeping with this website’s report last year that Steyn was expected to relocate to Bloemfontein when his contract with Montpellier in France came to an end.

It’s understood that the World Cup winner always harboured hopes of one day returning to Bloemfontein, and to possibly finish his career in a Cheetahs jersey. Having already purchased a home in Bloemfontein, Steyn and his wife will also have the opportunity for their young daughters to be schooled in South Africa.

Steyn had previously played for Grey College, the Cheetahs, Sharks, Racing 92, Toshiba Brave Lupus before joining Montpellier in 2016.
The double World Cup winner’s return to the Cheetahs will see him link up with former Sharks, Springbok and Montpellier teammate Ruan Pienaar, who joined the Bloemfontein-based team last year.
