Stade suffer shock defeat

Grenoble stunned Stade Français in their Top 14 clash with a convincing 30-21 victory in Paris.

The visitors raced out to a 27-7 lead and despite a valiant comeback by the hosts, Grenoble’s advantage was never under threat.

The victory bodes well for Grenoble’s play-off hopes, while it puts Stade six points adrift of log leaders Toulon and Clermont.

Elsewhere, Peter Grant kicked 14 points to guide La Rochelle to a 30-20 win over Oyonnax and keep them out of the relegation zone, Brive scored three tries to crush Racing Métro 36-12, while Martin Bustos kicked a last-gasp penalty to deny Castres a first away win of the season as Bayonne nicked a 21-19 win.

Toulouse, courtesy of two Vincent Clerc tries, beat Montpellier 18-13, three first-half tries helped Toulon defeat Lyon 22-14 to keep their place at the summit of the log, while Clermont recorded a 31-23 win over Bordeaux to remain level on points with Toulon.
