Rosko Specman scored a brace of tries and assisted another two as the Blitzboks claimed a 35-5 win over Spain on day two of the Dubai Sevens on Friday.
The victory saw the Blitzboks through to the playoffs with a game to spare. Neil Powell’s side face England in a battle for the top of Pool D at 5.54pm (South African time).
Much like their opener against Kenya, the Blitzboks did not have it all their own way to begin with but once they found their feet and got a couple of tries on the board, the South Africans did not look like they were ever under threat of losing this game.
Specman, who looks like he never left the Sevens circuit, again starred as he scored a brace and set up a further two tries to show the value that he can add this season, when he is available.
The speedster opened the scoring when he sprinted clear for a try from inside his own half. He then turned provider as he put Chris Dry away in the corner which put the Springbok Sevens 14-0 up at the break, but the forward came within inches of being tackled out before dotting the ball down.
The second half went far more according to plan as captain Siviwe Soyizwapi strode over in the opening minute, but Spain hit back with a try of their own to make it 21-5.
Specman assisted again as he sniped around a ruck and popped a pass to see JC Pretorius sprint away before scoring his second try to seal the match in the Blitzboks’ favour.
