Former Springbok flank Juan Smith wants to finish his rugby career at the Cheetahs.
Smith last played a competitive match for the Cheetahs in 2011 against the Bulls. He tore his Achilles tendon in that match and missed the rest of the season, including the Tri-Nations and World Cup.
Upon his return to the Cheetahs in 2013, the flanker again injured his Achilles tendon, against the Bulls in a pre-season friendly, forcing him to retire from the game.
However, later that year he was persuaded by Toulon to come out of retirement. He has achieved massive success with the French club, including European Cup and Top 14 titles, but wants to return to Bloemfontein.
‘I would like to spend my last season with Free State. I'm going to play in France for one more year and if my body allows it, I'll reitre in the Free State after that,’ Smith told Rapport.
