The Brumbies head into the Vodacom Super Rugby playoffs with plenty of momentum after they beat the Reds 40-27 on Saturday. JOHN GOLIATH reports.
The Brumbies were already assured of top spot in the Australian conference before the match kicked off. But they put in a professional performance, scoring six tries en route to a rather comfortable victory.
The Reds, who were playing for pride, showed some spirit and scored three tries of their own. However, two yellow cards in the first half cost them dearly, as the home side went into the break 19-0 up.
In total, the Brumbies scored through wings Andy Muirhead and Tom Wright, No 8 Lachlan McCaffrey, lock Rory Arnold, replacement Murray Douglas and banked a penalty try.
The Reds were competitive in patches, but ultimately the Brumbies picked up a comfortable bonus-point win to stretch their lead at the top of the Aussie conference to 14 points.
