David McDuling has signed with the Sharks until the end of the 2016 season.
The second rower made his Vodacom Super Rugby debut in 2014 against the Crusaders and has 12 caps for the Reds. He also won the inaugural season of Australia's National Rugby Championship with Brisbane City and had the most carries and run metres of any lock in the competition.
'He has huge potential and is an exciting prospect,' said Sharks director of rugby Gary Gold. 'At the Reds, he played behind the Wallabies captain James Horwill and gained some valuable experience. He will certainly bolster our depth at lock.'
McDuling added: 'I'm excited to be joining the Sharks at this stage of my career. After speaking with Gary, I cannot wait to contribute to a successful Sharks team starting with the upcoming Currie Cup. The opportunity to live in a great city such as Durban and play for the Sharks was one I did not hesitate to take.'
McDuling will arrive in Durban next week to join the Sharks for their pre-season training ahead of the start of the Currie Cup.
