Sharks forced to fast-track Lambie

Pat Lambie has been rushed into the Sharks' match 23 for Friday's game in order to be eligible for the playoffs a week later.

According to SuperSport.com, Lambie only started exercising on Tuesday but because he is still showing concussion symptoms director of rugby Gary Gold planned on keeping him back for the last round encounter against the Sunwolves.

However, Super Rugby organisers rule that a player has to be part of a match 23 for at least four games in order feature in the knockout stage of the tournament. Gold had written a letter to Sanzaar to explain Lambie's status as a Sharks player, who was limited to just three appearances because of injury. But the governing body sent a letter back to confirm that Lambie won’t be eligible if he doesn’t play the four games.

This has prompted Gold to fast-track Lambie on to the bench, with Curwin Bosch bracketed with him.
