Justin Geduld is in line to replace fellow sevens star Seabelo Senatla for Western Province's match against the EP Kings at Newlands on Friday.
Senatla had an excellent game against the Blue Bulls at Loftus, helping to set up Kobus van Wyk's try and then scoring one of his own, before hobbling off the field in the 67th minute with an ankle knock.
On Sunday, Siya Kolisi posted a photo on Instagram of himself pushing Senatla in a wheelchair at the airport, and although Allister Coetzee said the winger has been walking comfortably, he is expected to be ruled out for a minimum of two weeks.
The injury will force a change among Province's highly effective back three, with Geduld running at fullback in Monday's training session.
'We've got quite a number of options,' said Province coach Allister Coetzee on Monday. 'It won't be easy to replace Seabelo in his current form and for what he brings to the team. But we'll try get our back three as close as possible to the one that's been working so well for us.'
With the U21s enjoying a break this weekend, Geduld and EW Viljoen have been drafted into the senior set-up. Pat Howard remains an option having started on the wing in the opening win over the Kings.
'He's got an accurate left foot and a skill set that comes with playing international sevens rugby,' said Coetzee on Geduld. 'He's played at a higher level before so he's certainly an option for us.'
'We're looking to refresh things and give some players a rest, but we need to do it in a way that doesn't hamper the rhythm of the side. We're looking for a maximum of three or four changes.'
In some mixed injury news for WP, Michael van der Spuy is set to return this week, although Scarra Ntubeni won't be considered for the match against the Kings.
